While we briefly talked about Rihanna’s fashion designer venture debut last week, I’d like you to know I left her out intentionally. I just didn’t feel the need to discuss or comment on something that looked more like a desperate marketing try (from River Island) than an outpour of actual sartorial talent (from Rihanna). Thus, I thought, I will make it go away.
But I’m forced to get back on my decision and voice my worries because another notable collaboration has been signaled, from the same Rihanna: a makeup collection with M.A.C. Cosmetics!
Set to be released debut May this year, between two of Rihanna’s concerts at the Barclays Center, the new collection will be highlighted and available in a pop – up shop right there, at the actual venue.
When I first saw there were only four products in the first released image of the collection, I was naively concluding that that’s that. But I couldn’t be more wrong: this is just the first product to launch, Riri Woo (inspired by an actual MAC red, Ruby Woo). A lot more will roll up later in the year, a total of four collection called RiRi [hearts] MAC. Rihanna herself can’t contain her pride and joy saying that:

‘I’ve been using MAC on tour for such a long time, it was a natural fit for me. I have always loved makeup, and I always said that if I do it, I want to do it with a credible brand. […] I really got to play.’
